Current Salon Recognized as a Finalist in the 2019 NAHA Salon/School Design of the Year

Current Salon Recognized as a Finalist in the 2019 NAHA Salon/School Design of the Year

Current Salon in Ashburn, Virginia was one of five finalists in the 2019 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) for Best Salon/School Design of the Year.  Current Salon was recognized for its design, artistic expression, and creative confidence within their space.

“We’ve always said that Current is more than a salon. We’re a culture and an experience,” said Nese Altas, Lead Stylist and co-owner with Ryan Mallard, Managing Director. “The design of the salon captures and celebrates this culture, and it’s an honor to be recognized on a scale as prestigious as NAHA.”

The nomination culminates a long list of awards for the salon, including PoshSeven’s Best of Suburbia, Northern Virginia Magazine’s Top Salon, LoudounNow winner, Loudoun-Times Mirror Best of Loudoun and the Shop! Design Awards.

“This certainly was an amazing year for every one of us at Current Salon, and this nomination is an incredible recognition,” added Mallard, who moved the salon to its One Loudoun location in 2017. “We are thrilled to have a place that allows our stylists and our clients to celebrate the best of who they are. I’m proud to be able to showcase the hard work and creativity that went into designing the space to an audience who appreciates it.”

With its expansive ceilings and suspended styling mirrors, the salon space is open and energetic, allowing the individual stylists to focus on their clients while working collectively as a team. One of the “highlights” is the central color bar, where clients can sink into their color treatments while sipping coffee, catching up on work, or watching amazing professionals focus on their craft.

“Our wash area features reclining shampoo chairs for comfort, and our spa-like treatment rooms add a layer of privacy for waxing, threading, lash lifting and cosmetic services.  We also have a semi-private room available for bridal parties or other small events. You know you’re in for a treat at every turn, and that’s how it should be”, said Mallard.

NAHA 2019 honored the beauty industry’s most talented artists from the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California on January 26, 2019.
